Reiki The word Reiki is Japanese and the two parts of the word translate as Rei meaning Universal and the word Ki meaning Energy. Therefore, the word Reiki as a whole simply means Universal Energy. Reiki was discovered in approximately 1922 by Mikao Usui. He spent much of his life searching for the ultimate path to healing and spiritual development and eventually went on a trek to the mountain Kurama Rama, where he fasted for several days. Many oral sources hold that he had already discovered the Reiki system in ancient Tibetan manuscripts, but had no way of receiving spiritual initiation in this system. According to tradition, on the last day of his fast Mr. Usui became directly initiated by Universal Energy based on a large ball of light descending from the sky and striking him on the forehead. After this sudden and powerful impact of initiating energy it has been reported that Mr. Usui saw all the sacred symbols of Reiki floating in the air above him. Mr. Usui then came down from the mountain the practice healing and initiate and teach others about Reiki. Instead of being based on mantras as is the case with many Eastern teachings, Reiki is based on symbols. Spiritual initiation in Reiki in order to develop a permanent connection with Reiki as universal energy is accomplished by the teacher using symbols on the body in a specific formula ritual. In the first degree, the initiate does not learn any of the symbols, while in the higher degrees the initiate learns different symbols. There is some disagreement in Reiki about how many degrees there are. Some authorities maintain that there are seven degrees and others only three degrees based on person initiation and instruction from Mrs. Takata, who brought the Reiki system from Japan to Hawaii and then to the mainland USA and ultimately all over the world. Reiki is best known as a system of healing on one’s self and with others through the transmission of Universal Energy via the hands.

Comments: The doctor that received instructions from the Goddess of Light to make Avalon Water for healing and spiritual practice received 3rd Degree initiation from Barbara Ray – who states that she has been initiated into 7th degree by her teacher Takata in 1983 and was actually the first 3rd Degree initiator in Oregon. This was before the huge wave of initiation that took place based on many people claiming to have the authority to initiate someone into 3rd Degree. This Oregon doctor states the following: "I initially became interested in Reiki because of realizing that there was a lack of what I would cal "spiritual juice" saturating into my physical every day life from my meditation practice. I was fascinated by this system as it was presented and decided to receive initiation into 1st and 2nd Degrees while still in Chiropractic School – in the lineage of Takata from Usui and through Barbara Ray. When I finally received initiation into 3rd Degree from Barbara Ray, I found this experience to be like standing in the spiritual sun. A ray of light descended from very high above the earth and entered by crown charka during 3rd Degree initiation and the light was so bright in my vision afterwards that I could hardly see the world around me. Barbara’s capacity to radiate energy and her capacity as an initiator was highly developed – as well as being the most telepathic person I have ever been around. Visiting Barbara’s house in Atlanta in 1983 to receive 3rd Degree initiation was like stepping into a different universe. I took a step into an ocean of Universal Energy that was sweet, bright and pure. There were about 25 people who received 3rd Degree during that seminar and I kept trying to leave in order to fly back to Portland after the training was completed, but Barbara kept asking me and a few others to stay, until finally there only four of us left (two men and two women). Barbara initiated our feet into 3rd Degree (already had our hands initiated into 3rd Degree). My feet have been like Cosmic Flames with the power symbol radiating on the bottoms of my feet every since. I appreciated my involvement in Reiki by finally learning how to work with energy more directly as a healing practice and the transformation I went through by going through the initiations.

Many people who have become 3rd Degree Reiki Masters have told me that their capacity to radiate energy via the Reiki process has gone up exponentially from drinking Avalon Water, receiving initiation into the 12 Keys of Avalon as transmitted to me by the Goddess of Light and practicing Awareness Integration Method™ that I have developed to heighten the daily meditative process from drinking Avalon Water – click to the Testimonials section to read what Reiki Masters have to say about drinking Avalon Water. By drinking Avalon Water™ every day any Reiki practitioner at any degree level will notice that they are more directly connected to cosmic energy and more able to transmit it to themselves and other people."
