Gangaji is a spiritual teacher that like Andrew Cohen studied with the Advaita Vedanta teacher Poonjaji. Of all the people that studied with Poonjaji, Gangaji was most likely the one who was closet and most devoted to him. Unlike Andrew Cohen she continues to acknowledge her connection with him. But everyone’s path is different, including that of spiritual teachers. Gangaji is originally from Northern California and started her teaching there literally on the level of inviting people over to her house for Satsang. Gangaji has become very popular, with a few thousand people at a time attending her Satsangs all over the world. Her approach to dialogue is very traditional in the Advaita Vedanta sense, attempting to get at the core of people’s false understanding of self through discussion as well as through her silent presence.
